Upper crustal stratigraphy beneath the InSight lander on Mars and implications for its formation

Résumé

InSight landed on ~60 m thick, Early Amazonian, degraded volcanic flows overlapping >500m thick, Late Hesperian layered volcanic material. The upper part of 3m thick surficial unit is composed of poorly sorted, impact ejected magmatic rocks interbedded in lens-shaped with aeolian deposit.~ The aeolian material consists of fine loose grains with high porosity at near-surface showing a very weak cohesion at shallow depth.
