Résumé

Conjugated systems are the subject of considerable interest due to the combination of their optoelectronic properties and the flexibility of organic materials which allow the realization of new electronic devices. In this context, conjugated oligo- and polymers based on fluorene and cyclopenta[2,1-b:3',4'-b']dithiophene have been used as active materials for light-emitting diodes, fieldeffect transistors and photovoltaic cells. This work deals with the synthesis and characterization of conjugated systems based on a hybrid heterocycle between fluorene and cyclopentadithiophene, namely indeno[1,2-b]thiophene, the aim of this project being the exploration of the potentiality of such materials for organic electronics. The first chapter describes different approaches aiming at controlling the electronic properties of conjugated systems whereas the interest of fluorene, cyclopentadithiophene and the few existing indeno[1,2-b]thiophene derivatives for the elaboration of electronic devices is reviewed. The second chapter is devoted to the development of oligothiophene derivatives terminated with indeno[1,2-b]thiophene. The charge transport in these materials has been shown to strongly depend on the substitution of the molecules. In the third chapter, stilbene analogs derived from fluorene and indeno[1,2-b]thiophene have been described and have been shown to present interesting charge transport properties as demonstrated by the performance of the corresponding field-effect transistors. In the last part, indeno[1,2-b]thiophene-based low bandgap polymers have been designed for potential application in photovoltaics.
